This Privacy Policy describes how PicNik handles information when you use our mobile application. PicNik is developed by Ceurapelab.

1. Overview
PicNik helps you search your photo gallery for images that contain specific text (such as addresses, phone numbers, names, receipts, or screenshots), using on-device text recognition (OCR).
We do not upload your photos, extracted text, or search queries to any server. All image processing happens locally on your device.
2. Information We Access
2.1 Photos and Media (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES)
PicNik requests access to your device's photo gallery to let you search for images containing specific text. This is core to the app's functionality — the app scans your gallery using on-device OCR (Google ML Kit Text Recognition) to find matches for your search term.
- Photos are read directly from your device's media store.
- Extracted text is processed and compared entirely on-device.
- No photo, thumbnail, or extracted text is transmitted, uploaded, copied to a server, or shared with any third party by PicNik.
- We do not retain a copy of your photos or extracted text outside of temporary in-memory processing needed to perform a search.
2.2 Sharing Feature
If you choose to share a photo from within the app (e.g. via the built-in share button), PicNik uses the Android system share sheet. You control where that photo is sent; PicNik does not access or store the destination of a shared photo.
2.3 App Update Checks
PicNik may check with Google Play (via the Play In-App Updates API) whether a newer version of the app is available. This exchange is handled directly between your device and Google Play services and follows Google Play's own privacy practices. PicNik does not collect additional personal data through this process.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
PicNik does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or other personal identifiers
- Your photos or any text extracted from them
- Your location
- Contacts, messages, or call logs
- Any usage analytics tied to your identity (unless stated otherwise below)
4. Third-Party Services
PicNik uses the following third-party components to function:

These components may operate locally on your device and do not, to our knowledge, transmit your photo content off-device. If this changes in a future version, this policy will be updated accordingly.
5. Permissions PicNik Requests

PicNik does not request camera, location, contacts, microphone, or SMS permissions.
6. Data Storage and Security
- All OCR processing and search results exist only in the app's temporary memory during use.
- No photo data or extracted text is written to persistent storage outside the app, nor transmitted over the network.
- Uninstalling the app removes any temporary data associated with it.
7. Children's Privacy
PicNik is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
